If I care only about physical chemistry, this campus and this town is in my first priority.
The town. First of all, it is considered as the U.S. capital for surfing. Well, I can't surf along sea waves, but I definetely a surfer in the waves of life, or at least on the web. Second, the town is full of hippies. One of my host (not on the pictures) lives in caravan and (but) owns a hybrid car...!! Third, it's legal to go outside topless.
The campus. It's on the hill, but unlike Cornell, it's not on the top of the hill and SC is definetely waaaaay warmer than Ithaca. Second, it's on the hill, we could see the blue ocean and breath nicely. Three, whoever built it had separated buildings so it's more difficult for students to coordinate rallies (yes, the campus was built after Berkeley riots in the 1960's) so there are thick woods or bushes between those buildings. Felt like hiking everyday, and you can replace images of goats in Indonesian campuses with deers in UCSC: so yes, we could see Bambi and his Mom all the time (quickly go there before angry gardeners shoot Bambi's Mom). Fourth, Those stupid masterplanners failed, the campus is still one of the most radical in California. I love walking in between agitative posters and beautiful murals.
What else? I was hosted by Yen-ling, a Taiwanese PhD student in Anthropology who kept calling me Bang Tito, and Andy, another Taiwanese who was just finished his PhD in literature. This time we could take only few pictures (I kinda forced Andy to bring his camera, hahaha...) so like usual, I looked for pictures on the web that resemblance the most with my whole impression about the school.
Enjoy...

chancellor bunuh diri karena depresi (gak menjawab pertanyaan ya?) foto topless liat di website porno aja. emang ada gamelan juga di UC SB? di NYU sih ada dulu. Cornell juga ada.
roliflex wrote on Jul 19, '06, edited on Jul 19, '06 Pemalas banget sih, masak jalan kaki aja males? Ntar di DC musti banyak jalan kaki biar langsingan dikit! =P
naaaha, NYers have enough walk already... :) Actually, I walked bare foot at UCSC: on asphalt, grass, dirt, gravel, pebble... Keliling UCSC, sampe di rumah kaki langsung direndem air dingin karena sakit. Felt nice, itung2 pijat refleksi.
waaaaahhh... ini kampus keren banget siiiiyyy.....
