for everyone
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
Thank god I watched this movie with a cute girl that kept me distracted from Jake Gyllenhaal. He's so hot. Naaah, she's hot. Well, now I wonder who really had distracted me from whom, hahaha...

With all due respect for the girl I watched the movie with, and to all the girls in the world, I found the two cowboys sooo adorable. Between the great acting and superb direction, I put Ang Lee as someone responsible for this. He's on his way for an Academy Award. Sorry George Clooney, but you'll get your other chances later.

However, very unlikely for a Hollywood product, I should say that the movie had failed to get me involved in the romantic development between the two characters. I agree with a friend who said that it's more a cultural drama than a romantic story between two human beings. So my theory is that Ang Lee doesn't wanna make this as a regular romance, or that the long time span of the story itself creates difficulties for this task. With the kaleidoscopic approach, the script made me jumped around the calendar, just like when I watch movies that adapted from a long novel. I think it's suitable as the means to give you information, but not to let the audience to be emotionally involved with the story. Now, as I've heard that the movie is based on a short story, I'm really curious to read that .

However, this long span gives something more to add: the make up artist has done a hell of a job for presenting the characters in different ages, especially since the movie is still a drama with all the needs for close ups.

my best moment:
"... but I aint queer."
"Me neither."

setuju. meskipun si heath ledger masih keliatan muda pas ngomong sama anaknya yang mau kawin di akhir film. mungkin harusnya mukanya dibikin tambah tembem, tapi kayanya si make up artis nya dapet strict order supaya tetep bikin cakep dia :D

hehehe.. koboy menye. Tapi Hollywood ketinggalan jauh sama film Indonesia, tema ini kan udah dikupas habis-habisan dalam Benyamin's "Koboy Cengeng"...!!! :))

kok gw malah kebalikannya sih. i think the make up artist(s) could have done better. heath and jake looked too young for the 20-years-later time.

Check out the wrinkles that look so real on close ups. Well, yes, in general their appearance don't chance too much. I agree with Roby, I'd ask them to gain more weight if it's my movie.

Au contraire, I actually got very involved in the romance. ada dua adegan yg bikin gua hanyut.
1) When Jack immediately rushed down to Wisconsin to seek Ennis, after he got the letter of Ennis's divorce. and how did Ennis react?? Almost like blowing Jack off and used his daughter as an excuse to leave him...Hmm, so the homosexual couples don't abstain from the games of love.
2) Fast forward around 10 years later, I think this was the last scene that Ennis and Jack met. Both were frustrated why they have been keeping this up for the past 20 years...
Jack's reply was simple.
"I wish I knew how to quit you, Ennis del Marl.."

It's still a drama kok Puspini Puspitapispu... and it certainly has a lot of emotional scenes (eventhough I'm sure not as much as 'Koboy Cengeng' :p kikikik.. ) that made me thinking "should I cry now"? Huahaha... I'm kidding. Those moments, and all of the information are delivered well, but I just don't feel the love. Or maybe I just don't understand love in general (topik basi nih). Or... elonya aja nih, dasar cengeng... ;)

Now I wonder what would happen. Well, I think it was a significant destiny to be with her that night. "Takdiiir... memang kejam..." (translated: destiny is cruel, indeed ..!) :D

benyamin top! Apalagi pas dia maen jadi si doel sama ida royani & ahmad albar thn 1970an itu. Aku bener2 turut sedih pas pak benyamin sbg si doel sadar ternyata cewe idolanya bener2 ngga mau nerima lamarannya, padahal udah serius gitu bawa kambing segala.. "doel doel, ko jadi beginiiii" kata sang cewe.

Auk ah... Eh iya, pertanyaan gue, apa judul film Benyamin itu? Perkawinan? Pokoknya endingnya Benyamin ciuman sama Connie Sutedja kalo gak salah, lama banget di-close up mulut mereka dua2nya monyong dan gak gerak2. I love Benyamin. Tika dan Multiply Benyamin-nya tau jawabannya?
